Passenger2x Major Update Released With First Free DLC
Passenger2x, the airline‑management add‑on for Microsoft Flight Simulator, has released a major new update introducing a redesigned interface, improved performance systems and a range of new management tools. The update is one of the most extensive revisions to the add-on since its launch, touching almost every part of the user experience.
Redesigned Interface and Navigation
The most visible change is a complete refresh of the airline‑management UI. The update replaces the previous multi‑menu layout with a cleaner, icon‑based navigation bar designed to streamline access to key management screens. The interface now adapts to the user’s display size, and both the tutorial and manual have been updated to reflect the new design.
The flying bar UI remains unchanged for now, but the developers say it will be addressed in a future update.
Performance Gains
A new file system has been introduced to improve loading and saving speeds, particularly for players managing large fleets or extensive route networks. The system reduces the number of files Passenger2x needs to process and restructures how data is stored.
Additional backend improvements include faster internal database access and upgrades to the platform’s API.
Drag‑and‑Drop Scheduling Introduced
A new drag‑and‑drop scheduling system has been added, allowing players to create and adjust flights directly on a visual timeline. The tool supports resizing flight blocks, copying and pasting entire days, and automatically calculating turnaround times. Maintenance can also be added with a single click.
The developers say the new system is significantly faster and more intuitive than the previous scheduling method.
AI Flying Overhauled
AI‑controlled flights have been reworked to run in the background, allowing players to continue managing their airline while automated flights operate. Each AI flight now generates a detailed report similar to human‑flown routes, with plans to integrate these reports into the UI in a future update.
The AI system has also been expanded to simulate more detailed behaviour and operational decisions.
Historic Airlines DLC Released
Alongside the update, Passenger2x has launched its first free DLC: Historic Airlines. The pack, available through the “Extra Content” section on the welcome screen, introduces a collection of classic airline branding elements and liveries. The DLC was completed earlier but required the new update’s systems before release.
Additional Improvements
The update also includes a wide range of smaller enhancements across the platform, including:
- Airline limit increased from four to six
- Simplified staff salary structure
- Crew fatigue
- Simplified loan system
