In our last development blog post, we introduced the first phase of the Passenger2x Flight UI redesign, outlining the new flight bar, updated seat maps, and the three upcoming UI modes. Since then, development has continued, and today we’re excited to share another round of improvements that bring the new interface closer to its final form. This update focuses heavily on clarity, usability, and reducing unnecessary clicks, all based on your feedback and our own internal testing.
The goal of the new Flight UI remains the same: create a cleaner, faster, and more intuitive in‑flight experience that feels modern, consistent, and easy to use. With this update, several major components have now been refined, redesigned, or completely rethought.
Cleaner, Sharper Icons Across the Flight Bar
One of the most noticeable changes since the last Flight UI Redesign update is the introduction of new, cleaner icon designs. The previous icons were functional, but they didn’t always communicate their purpose clearly.
The new icons are sharper, more consistent, and easier to read at a glance, ensuring that the interface remains clear and modern.
This is part of our broader effort to modernise the visual language of Passenger2x and bring it in line with the rest of the redesigned interface.

No More Mouse‑Following Labels
One of the biggest usability improvements is the removal of the old mouse‑following labels. While they served their purpose, they often felt clunky, distracting, and visually outdated.
In their place, the new Flight UI introduces a dedicated Action Text Bar located directly beneath the event buttons. This bar dynamically displays:
- Current statuses
- Rotating flight information
- Button actions on rollover
This approach keeps the UI cleaner and avoids the floating tooltip effect that could sometimes obscure other UI elements. It also gives us more room to display contextual information in a consistent, readable way.
Simplified Menus
One of the most common pieces of feedback we’ve received is that some menus in the current UI require too many clicks. The announcement system is a perfect example: to make an announcement, you currently need to click Announcement, then choose between Crew, Pilot, or Emergency. The new UI eliminates this multi‑layered structure entirely.
Menus have been redesigned into simple, clean drop‑ups with no nested submenus.
For example:
Announcements
Clicking Announcement now opens a drop‑up showing all relevant announcements for the current phase of flight. If both crew and pilot announcements are available, they appear alongside each other. No extra clicks. No extra navigation.

Emergency Announcements
Emergency announcements have been moved out of the main announcement menu and placed into their own dedicated menu. These options now feature a subtle red tint to clearly indicate that they are for emergency use only. This separation reduces accidental clicks and makes the UI more logically structured.
In‑Flight Service Drop-Up
The in‑flight service menu has also been updated to match the new drop‑up system. Clicking In‑Flight Service now presents a clean list of available services without guessing what icons mean. This creates a consistent experience across the entire Flight UI and significantly speeds up in‑flight interactions.
Flight Settings – Cleaner, Clearer, and Easier
Flight settings have received a tidy‑up as well. Some users found the current icon‑based system, especially the right‑click seatbelt mode selector, confusing. The new UI replaces this with:
- Simple, clear switches
- A dedicated drop‑up for seatbelt controls
- Clearer layout and grouping

Other Small but Important Improvements
A few additional refinements have been made based on user feedback:
- Evacuate and Secure Cabin accidental‑click timers have been reduced from 12 seconds to 5 seconds, making them less disruptive while still preventing accidental activation.
- General spacing, alignment, and animation timing have been polished to improve overall flow and responsiveness.
- Descent detection is being added.
The Flight UI redesign is progressing rapidly, and we’re excited to share more as development continues. As always, we welcome your comments and invite you to join us on Discord, where we are happy to discuss and answer any questions from this Development Update.
