Passenger2 Development Update - Positive Progress: A Quick Overview

Development Update – A Quick Overview on Progress

Time for another development update. We’ve been continuing steady work on the upcoming Passenger2x major update, and as development has moved forward, it’s become increasingly clear that this release is larger, deeper, and far more interconnected than we originally expected. What began as a straightforward patch has evolved into a substantial update that touches nearly every major system in the platform. Because of that, we’re taking the time needed to ensure everything is stable, polished, and functioning exactly as intended before it reaches your hands.

Where Things Stand

Rather than rushing to meet a specific date, our focus is on delivering this update properly, not quickly. The systems involved in this release span UI navigation, scheduling, performance, data handling, and AI behaviour. Each of these areas interacts with others, meaning even small changes can have wide‑ranging effects. To avoid introducing issues or regressions, we’re taking a careful, methodical approach to testing and refinement.

We know many of you are eager to try the new features, especially the UI overhaul and drag‑and‑drop scheduling, and we genuinely appreciate your patience. This update is shaping up to be one of the most meaningful improvements we’ve released, and we want to make sure it meets the standard the project deserves.

What’s Been Happening Behind the Scenes

UI Overhaul

The new top‑bar navigation system, simplified menu structure, and financial shorthand display are all implemented, but they still require refinement. This part of the update affects nearly every screen, so we’re testing it across different airline sizes, layouts, and workflows to ensure it feels smooth and intuitive everywhere.

Performance Improvements

We’ve made major gains in loading speed thanks to the new file structure, but optimisation is still ongoing. Fleets, routes, and banking systems, especially for users with massive airlines, are receiving targeted improvements to reduce load times and memory usage. This is one of the most impactful parts of the update, and we’re excited about the results so far.

Drag and Drop Scheduling

The new scheduling system is already far more intuitive than the old method. We’re now polishing the finer details: resizing blocks, automatic turnaround times, copy/paste days, zooming, and right‑click editing. This feature alone transforms how scheduling feels, and it’s a major highlight of this development update.

AI Flying

Background AI flying is still being explored. It’s promising, but we need to ensure it doesn’t introduce UI lag or performance issues. This part of the development is complex, and we’re approaching it carefully to avoid unintended side effects

Historic Airlines DLC

The Historic Airliners DLC is complete, but it depends on assets included in the major update. Because of that, it will be released alongside the update rather than separately.

Thank You for Sticking With Us!

We know waiting isn’t fun, especially when development includes so many highly requested features. But we’d rather deliver something solid, stable, and polished than push out an update full of issues. Your feedback continues to shape Passenger2x, and we’re committed to making sure this major update is worth the wait.

Community Discussion & Feedback On Development Updates

As development continues to grow in scope, your feedback has become one of the most valuable parts of the process. Many of the improvements we mentioned in this development update, from UI refinements to scheduling changes, were shaped directly by community discussions, suggestions, and real‑world examples shared by players. If you want to follow development more closely or take part in shaping future updates, you can join the conversation on Discord. It’s where early ideas are tested, questions are answered quickly, and new features often get their first round of community feedback.
